Greene County district court, week ending April 4

In Greene County district court a judgment was entered April 1 against Danielle L. Schofield, 27, of Jefferson after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of theft-aggravated. She was sentenced to two years in prison; the prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. She was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. Schofield must pay restitution to be determined, a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge, $600 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees, and $100 court costs. Disposition was entered April 3 against David Troy Upchurch, 36, of Jefferson after he pleaded guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense, amended from OWI-second offense. He was sentenced to two days in jail. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete a community college course for drinking drivers. Upchurch was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge. He must also pay a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE), $90 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $100 court costs. A companion case in magistrate court in which Upchurch was charged with disorderly conduct was dismissed. (Sentencing: Kester)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Justin R. Jodoin, 23, of Churdan, OWI-first offense; and Michael Dean Laub, 47, of Rippey, driving while license barred-habitual offender. Trial dates were set for May 13 in both cases.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Brandon Thomas Gobble, 28, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana-second offense; David Ray Hale, 25, of Scranton, possession of marijuana; and James Allen Ward, 36, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury.
